Look Of The Day

Today I made this with stripes: one eyeliner on the upper lashes and one liner on the lower lashes.

Don't use liner on the waterline, it might be too much and since you want a blank stripe between it, skip it.

Just make a line with a black kohl pencil, smudge it and put some black eyeshadow on top. Then smudge it again a little until you're satisfied. For the finish use some liquid black eyeliner to get an exact line. Cotton buds are allowed ;-)

Unfortunately no one will see my eye make-up: it's spring outside and with blue sky and bright sun I need my sunnies, yeaaaah! :-)

Look Of The Day

I was really waiting to use my new MAC Neo Orange as promised lately.

So to give it a first try I used it nearly over the whole lid, but I think it might work best solo with a hint of white or as an eye liner (use it wet then) or for the actually reason I bought it for, to use it for the lips.

Yes, lips.

If you really want to pop out your statement lipstick put a little bit of the Neo Orange in the middle of your lips... Like Make-up Artist Diane Kendal did with MACs Redd pencil, Scarlet Ibis lipstick and the pigment on top for the extra bright glow for Jason Wu's fashion show.

Find more pics of this adorable look here.

Btw... aren't the feathers in the hair nice or what? Can someone please do this to my hair, too?

And since I was not really satisfied with that look I couldn't wait to try other versions...

allover Neo Orange on the upper lid
tip: use NYX Jumbo Pencil in white as a base to receive
the real neon look
as an eye liner for an every-day look, if you dare ;-)

Polka Dots - Sephora Nail Patch Review

I'm not a big fan of nail art, so this one is gonna be a rare posting.

But I love stripes and I like dots on clothes, so when I saw those Nail Patches at Sephora in "My Favorite Skirt", I thought I could give them a try.

First, it looks easy to apply them, but let's face it: it's not!

In the package there are 16 patches in 5 sizes, which seems a lot. But for my nails no one of those didn't really fit. Either they were to large or to small. Especially for the middle fingers. Thumb and the little one were ok.

The patch itself is very thin and has two "skins" for protection. One clear and one silver, both you have to remove.

Unfortunately the patches got cracked a few times by removing the silver protection skin.

One of the damaged patches.

I really needed all of the 16 patches.

Done, but not satisfying.

As you can see on the close-up the patches have an uneven surface. It got little crinkles and the foil had from the beginning on a little pattern perforated. Probably for a better applying on the round nails, to actually avoid crinkles.

And they were not shiny at all.

So I applied two layers of clear top coat nail polish for more shine and a better wear.

I used Essence Studio Nails Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer. I think this is the best top coat I've ever had. Yes, better than OPI and way more cheaper - a tenth of OPI!

It dries in seconds and is really shiny and strong and it survives applying most suncreams which OPI doesn't. (I found it out the hard way after a manicure)

Conclusion:
The patches are funny, but hard to apply. And the result is not satisfying. It looks already worn for a few days, although it's new done.

And since the patches are not that cheap, I would recommend to invest in a real nail polish you can use way more often. If you are into nail art and like patches, I would rather recommend to try those.

Only one pencil out of five... one for the nice dots-pattern.

Tutorial: Look Alice Dellal for Chanel Boy Bag Collection

Step aside 2.55! Here is the new Chanel Boy Bag!

The campaign was shot by Mr. Chanel itself, Karl Lagerfeld. Model with a cool attitude is Alice Dellal.

I don't want to tell you about how much I like Chanel and the bags and the sunnies and some shoes and - oh - some dresses...
Skip this! I know some of you feel similar ;)

Let's have instead a closer look at the make-up!

In the Austrian Flair I found some backstage pictures that provide a little insight into the cool eye make-up of Alice Dellal. Although I wouldn't suggest red lips to dark eyes. For a campaign or runway it's fine, but not for everyone's everyday.

And I did a little modification: I wanted for me not a harsh black-white contrast, so I used a pastel color.

So here's my tutorial:

priming with MAC Shadestick in Street Cool
marking the lines with MAC Technokajal Liner in Graphblack
connecting the lines and making an angle
blending the harsh lines
filling the lid with MAC eyeshadow in Lady Grey (a light violet-grey)
also put some eyeshadow under the eye and a little above the crease
cleaning the edge to get a clean and sharp angle
accentuate the angle with the fair eyeshadow (here: Lady Grey)
if needed put some black eyeshadow over the black Technakohl Liner
and draw a line with black liquid liner - blend a little
put on mascara and draw your eyebrow,
some Technakohl Liner on the waterline for a little extra-dark...
... done!!!
with more light on my skin

Spotted: Winged Smokey Eyes

Commuting between the cities and having shootings I didn't have much time for postings the last week, but I have a lot of ideas and new things to tell you in the pipeline... so keep posted... more coming soon.

Spotted in an Austrian magazine: the add of Gosh Cosmetics.
(sorry for the pleat in the paper)

I really like the winged smokey eyes! And the fakies are gorgeous.

I should try this soon...

Look Of The Day

It seems that spring is here! Temperature goes up and mood as well ;)

Time for something new. I've never tried grey eyeliner and I have so say it's really great and charming: not too dark, not too light... feels just right.

This one is from Gosh Cosmetics Intense Eyeliner Pen in Grey.

...and my lipstick is from YSL Rouge Volupte Perle 114 Sparkling Fuchsia from the spring look collection. It's an unbelievable beautiful color.

Eyeshadow is at the moment my all-time-favorite Make Up Store Microshade Boheme.

Have a good week!

Look Of The Day - Ice Princess

Sun is shining, sky is blue, but appearances are deceiving. Feeling like an ice-princess in my lovely dress with warm wool leggings, the make-up has to assimilate:

I used MAC Mega Metal Shadow in Prance for 2/3 of the lid and a little bit of MAC Mega Metal Schadow in Unflappable for the last 1/3, the crease and under the eye.
Big fat deep dark black eyeliner from an Asian brand - I'll do a review soon on this, if you ever go to Asia there are a few make-up things you have to take with you.

On my lips MAC Longwear Warp Speed in Silver - no pic of that, I still got some scars from my cold sores :(
So it's all silver and icy-grey but for my cheeks a tiny bit rosy-pink blush: my new MAC Cremeblush Florida
Enjoy the day!
