Look Of The Day

It's Sunday, I'm lazy, tired and not motivated to go out. So for me today is all about cup of tea, reading, a little bit of tidy up, TV and homemade spaghetti bolognese - yummy!

Today's look is just simple and nude with a little peachy shimmer.

Used products:
MAC Paintpot Rubenesque all over the lid
MAC Eye Shadow Soft Brown Matte in the crease and under the eye
L'Oreal Architect 4D mascara
Max Factor Khol pencil Natural Glaze for waterline

Happy Sunday!

New in & Review: Estée Lauder Blush Peach Nuance

pic via freedigitalphotos.net

A few years ago MAC had a limited edition with blushes in pink and peach shades with fades from dark to fair. I always wanted the MAC blush Ripe Peach, but it was sold out very quickly.

I was hoping that they will do for spring the same blushes, but they came only up with pink and rose shades in the collection Daphne Guiness for MAC.

But I found some similar blush at Estée Lauder: Peach Nuance that is even better than the one from MAC because it fades way more brighter. Doesn't it look like a ripe peach? Yummy!

You can shade your cheek and even highlight it!

The powder is very smooth and with a touch of light silk shimmer. So it's not completely matte, but not too shiny.

The package is quite nice, but it's only plastic so I hope it will last a while, because I often drop my things in the bathroom ;-) And I think the shiny blue plastic will get some scratches very easily.

The provided brush is useless for me. It's very small and flat, a little bit  scratchy. You can't get all the colors on your face without mixing them together and you can't achieve nice even cheeks with it.

So I used my MAC large angle contour brush 168. You can see on the pic how well the colors is on the brush - from nude peach-blossoms to ripe peachy-orange-pink.

swatch: without flash - only twice applied. Very nice, but subtle.

on my cheek you see better results, no?
My conclusion: it's perfect for pale skin like mine. I think on darker skin or in summer when I'm more tanned (well actually I don't get a really tan ;-)) you won't see anything. It's also good for beginners, if you are not used to a blush and if you are not sure how to apply it, the little mistakes won't be that exposed. One plus factor is the fading from peach blossom to the ripe fruit color: you can shade and contour your cheek very well with only one product. One small drawback: the rather cheap plastic packaging with the useless brush. So 4 from 5 pencils from me!

Look Of The Day

Inspired by yesterdays wonderful, comfy evening with friends in front of a fireplace (thank you M. it was such a nice evening!) I did this look today.

Colors used Vanilla, Pink, Red, Brown. All by MAC.

And I have finally new contact lenses. So no scary eyes for the next 90 days. And a new mascara: L'Oreal's Architect 4 D in Glossy Black. They are talking about dramatic swing and false lash effect. For me it's just a quite good mascara. Not more. But see for yourself.

Product review: John Frieda Frizz-Ease 3-day straight

John Frieda's new Frizz-Ease 3-day straight has a big promise: sleek hair for even 3 days!

Here's my review: nice shiny package, but I really wonder why it does need an outer package. Don't we make enough litter everyday? And when you open the package you see why. It's a deceptive package, the spray itself is not as big as the package (not shown in the pic left, the proportions are different).

But it is very effective. You spray about 10 times in your wet hair, blow dry it with a brush and then use a flat iron. The perfume of the spray is quite neutral, but very nice.

And here are my pics from day 1 to day 3:

day 1: perfectly straight hair

day 2: also straight hair, but with a slightly curve (that comes from giving the hair behind the ear)

day 3: still straight, a little bit fuzzy, but that's more from snow and woolen hats

My result: good product, it works well on my hair, but since I have just a slightly curled hair it would be interesting how it works with stronger curled hair. Because I find the packaging unnecessary and it raises wrong expectations only 4 of 5 pencils.

Look Of The Day

Today it's all grey and white outside with -10°C. So enough of Guerlains grey shades. I need some simple but warm chocolate colors on the eyes. Tadaaa! :)

... still no neutral contact lenses....

Karlie Kloss by Kai Z Feng for Vogue Australia March 2012

Aren't these adorable pictures? Found via Fashion Gone Rogue, photographer Kai Z Feng did the cover shoot with Karlie Kloss for Vogue Australia March 2012.

I really like her make-up. It's seductive and dark but without being too overloaded, it is glowing and light by the use of highlighter under the brow, on the cheekbones, inner corner of the eye... and using fresh rosy blush. Make-up artist Christopher Ardoff did a very good job.

Look Of The Day

I found out, was yesterdays LOTD's mistake was: You can never use the NYX Jumbo Pencil without some eye shadow or powder above to fix it. It's too creamy to stay in place. You have to "dry" it with some powder.

Don't be scared of my contact lenses but since my optician mixed up my order, I still have to wait for normal clear lenses.

The lenses used are Maxi Eyes Lenses from Asia. I bought them months ago to try them but I think you need darker eyes. With my fair turquoise-green-blue-something it just looks scary. Let's keep them for carnival or halloween.
