Such a nice idea and decoration for your room or bathroom.
Unfortunately it wouldn't work for me. With all my stuff I would need a gallery :-)
But maybe it's something for you?

DIY Heated Eyelash Curler

I've seen so many funny tools and accessories the last few weeks.

Some were really weird, some were very useful... btw... I found out for what this nose-thingy is: it's supposed to make your nose smaller and finer by just clipping it on like a clothespin!

So it seems to me that there is a huge trend for heated eyelash curler at the moment.

At Sephora alone there are several types of heated ones.

Have you ever tried one? 

I've tried one in the shop. It curls your lashes a little bit more than a non-heated eyelash curler. And - the really good thing - you can use it AFTER you applied mascara.

Which would be the only reason for me to buy it, but why not curling the lashes before applying mascara?

So if you have very strong, thick lashes (congrats!) and you have troubles with curling them, just warm up your normal eyelash curler, like the one on the left, with a blow-dryer and then curl your lashes carefully. Then apply mascara.

Be sure that the eyelash curler is not hot, just a little warm should be enough, like holding the curler 2-3 seconds under the blow-dryer.

DIY Pinselreiniger / Brush Cleaner

Inspiriert von einer Journalistin der Elle Australia (sie schickte ihre Pinsel und Schwämme ans Labor und erhielt grausige Ergebnisse), möchte ich das Thema Pinselreinigen aufgreifen. Natürlich desinfiziere ich meine Pinsel jeden Tag - ihr auch?

Der Grund dafür ist, dass sich zig Bakterien sonst vergnügt auf den Pinselchen und Schwämmchen vermehren und diese verursachen Pickelchen oder sonstige Hautirritationen. Das warme, feuchte Klima im Badezimmer begünstigt das noch mal zusätzlich.

Also bevor ihr noch kleine komische Monster züchtet hier die wichtigsten Tipps um Make-up und Pflege so bakterienfrei wie möglich zu halten:

• vorher Hände waschen
• besser Produkte im Spender wählen
• Wattestäbchen oder Spachteln für Tiegel-Produkte verwenden (nicht mit dem Finger rein!)
• Lipliner und Eyeliner nach jeder Benutzung spitzen
• trennt euch von Make-up Produkten, die schon komisch aussehen oder schlecht riechen
• regelmässig Pinsel waschen und desinfizieren

Und so macht ihr euren eigenen Pinselreiniger:
Besorgt euch in der Apotheke hochprozentigen, medizinischen Alkohol (70%) und füllt den in eine Spritzflasche. Ich mische noch ein paar Tropfen von meinem Lieblingsduschgel hinein für einen besseren Geruch. Schütteln. Fertig. Diese Variante ist wesentlich günstiger als sich immer einen neuen Reiniger im Laden zu kaufen. Zwischendurch aber auch immer wieder mal die Pinsel waschen.

If not, you might get a lot of bacteria living happy on you brushes and sponges. Those can cause spots and other skin irritations. The warm and humid climate in your bathroom boosts the growing in addition.

So before you breed weird little monsters, here are the most important tips to keep your make-up and skincare as bacteria-free as possible:

• wash your hands 
• opt for pump dispensers
• use cotton buds or other clean applicators for jars (do not use your finger!)
• sharpen lipliner and eyeliner after every use
• throw away old make-up products, that smell or look weird
• wash and disinfect your brushes regularly 

DIY - Brush Cleaner:

Get a medical alcohol in your drugstore (70%) and fill it into a bottle with spay. I mix it with a few drops of my favorite shower gel for a better smell. Shake it. Done. This is very simple and cheaper than buying every time a new one in the store. Don't forget also to wash the brushes occasionally.

Paper Lashes

Inspiriert vom chin. Scherenschnitt hat die Firma Paperself Fake Lashes aus Papier kreiert. Das sehr feine Material erfordert ein wenig Übung beim Befestigen. Wenn man besonders sorgfältig damit umgeht, kann man diese sogar öfters verwenden. Mehr als zweimal ist vermutlich nicht realistisch.

Ich habe mich für das Modell Small Peacock entschieden, da mir die gesamte Wimpernbreite zu wuchtig erscheint. Eine Packung enthält 4 Wimpern. Und so sah das dann bei mir aus:

Sicherlich nicht für jeden Tag, aber für besondere Anlässe und reduziertes Make-up sind die auf jeden Fall im wahrsten Sinne ein Eyecatcher.

Begeistert und inspiriert davon, habe ich mich gefragt, ob man das nicht auch selber machen kann.


Man benötigt eine Stanzform, buntes Papier (nicht mehr als eine Grammatur von 90g) und Geduld.






Versucht das auf keinen Fall mit Servietten. Es geht nicht. Leider habe ich mir so die Stanzform rechts oben ruiniert, die wäre vermutlich am Schönsten gewesen. :(

Mit einer kleinen gebogenen Nagelschere, kann man dann die ausgestanzten Formen zurechtschneiden.

Und so kann das dann aussehen. Das nächste Mal würde ich es aber mit schwarzem oder glänzendem Papier versuchen. Wirkt sicher eleganter. Das hier wäre dann doch eher was für Shootings oder Karneval.
