LOTD Red Wine... Sparkling

Autumn is here! And after two grey rainy days we have a sunny but fresh Thursday.

Inspired by red leaves and glittering dewdrops I did this look today:

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Glossybox Switzerland September

After a very long announcement time (about 2-3 months) there is also a Glossybox available in Switzerland.

There was a special offer for just ordering one single box, so I was very tempted... and of course I ordered a box end of August.

Today - "only" 18 days later the box arrived.

And I'm slightly disappointed with the products. For CHF 21.- and for the very first box I would have expected something more special.

So what was inside?

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer
It's a very good one, although I prefer moisturizer with SPF. You can get that sample size in every Kiehl's store for free if you ask nicely.

Lancome Genifique
I'll test it definitely. I don't get a lot of sleep at the moment.

L'Oreal Paris Color Riche nail polish
nice color in teal, good for autumn. But psssst, Glossybox, L'Oreal is not a luxury brand ;-)

Maria Galland Gloss
The gloss is more a balm and feels very comfortable on the lips, but I don't like the color. It looks very bright red but on the lips it's only just slightly red... more rosy... nothing I would use for my daily look since I prefer either nude lips or statement lips. Nothing between.

Paul Mitchell Shampoo
Interesting. Smells good. I'll test it.

Conclusion
It's so nice when you get a monthly surprise box. I love the idea and the concept but I think the box in Switzerland is way too expensive. In other EU countries it's cheaper. In France it's only EUR 10.- / CHF 12.-!!!
I'm a real cosmetic freak and therefor I had somehow higher expectations. Instead of two face care products (moisturizer and serum) an eye shadow would have been great. Or any other make-up thing, but there are 4 care products and just only 1 decorative product (the nail polish). I often get care products at the counter of the brands in the mall. So that's nothing I would pay for it.
And the delivery time (18 days!) is way too long.
I don't think that I'll order a second box for this price. Only 1 pencil for idea and nice packaging.

Spotted: Redheads

It's exactly one month ago since my last posting. Sorry for that but the reason is small, blonde, beautiful, lovely, 52 cm... he's just so perfect and I'm totally in love!!!

I'll do a checklist on make-up for young mums soon :-)

Just spotted in the German Glamour: this wonderful editorial with a very pretty model. I really like the pale skin with the red hair. See the eye make-up: it almost the same color as the hair.

This makes me wanna try red hair for myself.

Have a great weekend!

Tutorial: John Galliano Autumn/Winter 2012/13

One of my favorite looks from the last issue of the In Beauty, was the one from John Galliano for Autumn/Winter 2012/13.

It was a black smokey eyes with a peacock shimmering blueish-greenish color on top. Therefor a lot of black kohl pencil was used.

For my version I changed the black with a brown color to give the look a softer note and make it more wearable for daylight (of course as always, it depends where you work).

You can even let the black kohl pencil out, if it's to dark for you. Exchange it with a brown one. Or if you want more drama, add the black kohl pencil to your waterline. I didn't because I got dry eyes and putting something on the waterline make them even more dry.

Tip: But you can add some color into the inner corner to get also a quite good dramatic effect.

Start with a black line (Maybelline Expression Kohl Pencil)

smudge it with a pencil brush into the lashline...
... and a little bit into the inner corner

use the leftover on the brush for the lower lash

Add a brown cream color on the lid and blend it
I used MAC Paint Pot Constructivist for it, my all time favorite
... also a little bit of the brown color under the eye and blend it with the black
add some highlighter under your brow and in the inner corner
I used here MAC Blanc Type

Time for shimmer!
Add some shimmery eye shadow on top in the middle and
blend it to the sides and upwards
(e.g. MAC Pigments Blue Brown which is actually more green than blue)

I also added some bright white-blue shimmer in the middle
(Sugarpill's Lumi Loose)

Brush your brows! If necessary add some brow powder.
Mascara! I used here a blue one to achieve a more luminous look
(ByTerry Mascara)

Not enough shimmer for today?
OPI Just Spotted the Lizzard
the pic is very pale... it's a green-blue-golden color
looks more like a shimmering dogbane beetle

How to make your own Colored Mascara

Found on You Tube... this is a really great tip how to make your own colored mascara.
Besides upcoming Street Parades, Love Parade, Summer Festivals...
How many opportunities do you have to wear colored mascara anyway? And when you want to use it again the product is old and dried out.
So check this tutorial from Nikkietutorials.com out:

LOTD Sparkle Pink

Today I'm wearing something neutral-grey, so I wanted to add some bright color to the outfit.

Products used:
MAC Paintpot Artifact
MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow Quartz Fusion
Kiko Eye Shadow Colour Sphere
MAC Eye Shadow Blanc Type
MAC Pigment Neo-Orange
Armani Mascara Eyes to Kill

Tip: MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow has a lot of sparkle and glitter in it. So use a moist (not wet) brush for applying. So nothing can fall down. I use MAC Fix+ for this, just two pumps will do it.

Cheers!
