Hair Tutorials for Summer

One of my favorite blogs is the one from Joanna Goddard, A Cup Of Joe. She's living with her husband and her toddler son in Manhattan and writes about everything a woman likes to know or to talk about. From motherhood to sex, from recipes to fashion, from accessories to decoration or holidays or...

With her friend, Caroline, she does wonderful hair tutorials with lovely pictures. In case you don't know her blog, check it out.

Bella L., this post is for you ;-)
So if you are fighting with frizzy hair now in the heat of this summer or if you are tired of just making a ponytail or you need some inspiration, check out the wonderful tutorials. They are pretty easy and won't take long in the morning. All you need is long hair.

These are my favorites:

Tutorial Tip: Twisted Bunn

I wasn't sure the last week if I should let my hair grow or go to the hair dresser to cut it again.

Now I know: I want long hair again!

Thanks to Angelica and her lovely pics today. How she does it?
Check out her easy video tutorial here.

Thinking Of A Short Hair Cut?

Running over the pages of my last years Russh-collection, I found this editorial with an amazing short hair cut.

Although the hair is short - just about 5 - 8 centimeters shorter than mine - there are many ways to style it.

It's a little bit 80, a little bit punk and you will need a lot of hair gel or wax.

I'll give it a try. Just the styling, not the cut. I still can't decide if I should let my hair grow or cut it again...

Have a great week!

Girl Crush: Babypink Hair - Part II

A few months ago I already wrote about my little crush about babypink hair here. And you see it more and more on runways, covers and editorials.

Also bloggers dye their hair or only their hair tips lately in all colors of the rainbow. Also Hollywood stars like Kate Bosworth or Kate Perry was seen in colored tips. (see more here)

Since not everybody is a star, a full-time blogger, a model, a creative working self-employed or in a hip agency, who can dye your hair permanently, you have to improvise with something else for the weekend or just for one day.

And wigs are not for everybody, besides if they are good quality they are expensive and if they aren't they are uncomfortable and look cheep.

"So why not use an eye shadow for your hair?" must Kevin Murphy had in mind, when he invented his color bug.

It's really like make-up for your hair. Since the pigmentation is very strong and opaque, you can use it for dark hair, too.

Be sure to cover your shoulders with a towel to protect your clothes.

Rub the bug on your hair until it has enough color.

Fix it then with a hair spray.

Product review: Osis+ Flatliner

Osis+ Flatliner from Schwarzkopf promises quite the same as John Frieda's Frizz Ease 3-day straight. Since I've done a review about this shortly, I thought it would be fair to do a review about the competitive product.

I like the packaging and it comes without an outer package. So less litter, which is nice. I used the same amount of the product - I sprayed about 10 times. It has no perfume, but it doesn't smell neutral. It smells a little bit chemical, but this goes away after a few seconds.

Here are the pics of my hair:

day 1

day 2
day 3
My conclusion: I don't know why, but I think my hair looks best at day 3. Maybe it's because it was too dry after blow drying and flat ironing. I didn't use any oily or shiny products to not falsify the result. Although I wore on the whole day 2 a hair tie it doesn't seem to crinkle, it's pretty straight after all (even after partying on Saturday and wearing wool hats at -16°C!!) So my hair is straighter with Osis+ than with John Frieda!

I like that the package comes without an outer box, but for private use the bottle is a little bit too big, but since Osis+ is a brand for professional use I don't count this as a disadvantage. Only one half point less for the strange smell: 4.5 pencils!

Product review: John Frieda Frizz-Ease 3-day straight

John Frieda's new Frizz-Ease 3-day straight has a big promise: sleek hair for even 3 days!

Here's my review: nice shiny package, but I really wonder why it does need an outer package. Don't we make enough litter everyday? And when you open the package you see why. It's a deceptive package, the spray itself is not as big as the package (not shown in the pic left, the proportions are different).

But it is very effective. You spray about 10 times in your wet hair, blow dry it with a brush and then use a flat iron. The perfume of the spray is quite neutral, but very nice.

And here are my pics from day 1 to day 3:

day 1: perfectly straight hair

day 2: also straight hair, but with a slightly curve (that comes from giving the hair behind the ear)

day 3: still straight, a little bit fuzzy, but that's more from snow and woolen hats

My result: good product, it works well on my hair, but since I have just a slightly curled hair it would be interesting how it works with stronger curled hair. Because I find the packaging unnecessary and it raises wrong expectations only 4 of 5 pencils.
