Review: Lime Crime Palette d'Antoinette

Lime Crime's Palette d'Antoinette is the second palette they brought out. Also like the first one, the China Doll Palette, the eyeshadows are bright and all matte beside the silver shadow.

The colors from left to right:
Royal Flush: a pastel baby-pink
Absinthe-Minded: a light fresh green
Macarooned: a peachy orange
Ribbonesque: a very opaque lilac
Mercurious: a silver - with shimmer

pic via lime crime
Because there are so many swatches from this palette on blogs to find, I decided to do the swatches on a black base. I used here MAC Paint Pot Blackground

And as you can see the colors are really opaque and work also on dark background. Although you have to go over a few times with more color than usual but it works really well.

The shadows are very soft, good to apply and to blend.

Here are some looks with the colors:
Royal Flush

Absinthe-Minded
Macarooned

Ribbonesque
Mercurious

Résumé:
I like all the colors, although I would wish for another highlighter than the silver one. A pastel shimmer like MAC Vanilla would have fit more into the palette. Although the silver is really nice and I guess the best silver I've seen so far, I'm not sure if I will use it often. For me it's too harsh or too 70s style... or maybe I just have to find the perfect color combination. I will let you know if I found one ;-)
The quality of the shadows is stunning good: very opaque, soft, good to apply and to blend. The package is a metal case and very robust. Often the packages made of plastic get damaged easily. I definitely would buy it again.

LOTD Silver

This is a little bit too dark on the pic and somehow it looks blurry. I took a few pictures, but they all came out the same way. It might be the silver shadow that causes that "phenomena".

So in real it's not that blurry but fine blended of course.

Look is done with Mercury from Lime Crime's Palette d'Antoinette and Sleek Make-up Matte Palette V2. Mascara: Armani Eyes to Kill

Happy Weekend everybody!

LOTD - neon lilac

Summer time is color time :-)
Either on the lips or on the eyes. For a nude look I put some bronzer on my cheeks. It seems I can't leave the house without some color... why should I?

This look is done with Lime Crimes Ribbonesque form the Palette d'Antoinette and Sleek Make-up's Matte Palette V2. Mascara from Armani: Eyes to Kill

Have a great day!

LOTD Lime Crime Macarooned

Another summer look in bright friendly colors done with Lime Crime's Palette d'Antoinette.

Here I used mainly Macarooned, the peach-orange eye shadow combined with some colors of the Sleek Make-up Matte V2 palette.

To keep it light I only used mascara on the upper lashes.

Have a great day!

Review: YSL Vernis à Levres 9

As you know I'm obsessed with bright red (or pink) statement lipsticks. But the problems with those is that the most don't stay long on your lips. And those which are "kiss-resistant" make your lips dry and flaky.

So I was curious to test YSL new lip gloss that promises three things in one:
- the resistance from a lip stain
- the color opaqueness from a lip stick
- the shine from a gloss

and this combined with comfort and hydration for your lips.

True? Let's see...

Packaging:
very nice, elegant, good size... nothing to complain. The applicator is heart-shaped so you can carefully apply the color without a lip brush.

Smell:
Fresh and sweet, reminds me of sour gum-worms. I like it, it has nothing chemical in it and isn't too importunate.

Texture:
A little bit more creamier than a gloss. Very shiny.

Durability & comfort:
Quite good, it feels like a gloss, it's light on your lips, it doesn't get flaky. The color is very strong and opaque. It doesn't dry your lips and is after hours still comfortable.

So here's the test:

Pic on the left: fresh applied

After lunch: Soup and sandwich
I thought that the sandwich would kill the lip stick,
so I was really surprised that so much color was left!
re-applied and after 3 hours
I had in between some water from a bottle
After 6 hours
(some cookies and some water from a bottle)

Résumé:
It's obviously not kiss-resistant, a gloss-product like this can never be. But it stays on your lips or let's say, it keeps enough color on your lips to keep them real red looking and not "washed away". Of course if you drink form a glass, bite in a sandwich or kiss your love you will see red marks on the glass, the sandwich or other lips ;-) It's still like a gloss.
But what really surprised me was, that when you remove it, there will be no leftovers from the color on your lips. Whereas a lip stain always dyes your lips and is hart to remove. I hate that when you wake up on the next morning and still your lips are red or pink from yesterday.
The texture is very comfortable and keep your lips soft and moist. Even after a few hours the lips has no dry feeling and you don't have to re-apply in between.
One plus point: the packaging has a shiny golden cap. You can use it as a mirror to re-apply the product or check if your lips are still fine.
I wouldn't wear it if I go out with my love because you can't kiss but I would wear it for a dinner or during the day. Just apply it very light at the beginning (before dinner) and re-apply it stronger after dinner. So you can avoid red marks on wine glasses or red marks on your table napkin.

I really like it and I'm already thinking of other colors... like the dark plum N° 01 for next winter. I can absolutely find nothing to complain about this product, so it's 5 from 5 pencils!

Essie Lilacism

I had just a perfect Sunday yesterday. Early in the morning I went to the kiosk to get some relaxing reading stuff and I got this 2-in-1 surprise:
The SI-Style with an Essie nail polish!
In German you pronounce the magazine SI like Essie the brand, so the cooperation was in fact obvious ;-) (Thanks M. for the tipp!)

They have it in 2 colors: Lilacism and Mint Candy Apple which I already got, so I took the one with Lilacism.

I wish more magazines could do such cooperations!

The Liebster Blog Award

The Liebster Blog Award is given to upcoming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. Thanks Kristy from Just Another Day for choosing me.

The Rules:

1. Each person must post 11 things about themselves.
2. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you and create eleven (11) questions for the people you've tagged.
3. Choose eleven (11) people and link them in your post.
4. Go to their page and tell them.
5. Remember no tag backs!

My Questions from Kristy:

1. If you could only wear one make-up product (foundation, mascara, blush, etc.) what would you pick?
I would pick a mascara. Because everybody looks better with defined, black lashes. Besides that I could use the mascara as an eye liner and cream eyeshadow.
2. What are you currently wearing?
A grey-blue mini-dress from H&M as a top and a white Alexander Wang skirt.
3. What is your favourite store to shop for clothes?
Zara. And recently I had good experience with online-shops like Nelly or Asos.
4. What is your exercise routine like, if you have one?
Usually I go at least twice to the gym a week or jogging if the weather let me.
5. What beauty/make-up product do you own the most of?
Eyeshadows. No wait. Lipsticks. Or no... Lipglosses?
6. What is your favourite movie?
Hard to pick just one. There are so many. The movies I've most seen are Star Wars, Monty Python's The Holy Grail and Life of Brian. All oldies but goldies.
7. Are you a morning person or a night-owl?
Funny question, because this is changing right now. I used to be THE night-owl, but recently I'm going to be more and more an early bird. I really enjoy starting the day earlier and enjoying the silence in the morning. This might be caused by the construction workers across the street. They building a house and they start at 7 am. Nice, huh?
8. Would you rather have a real tan or fake tan?
I'm not a tanning girl. It took me years to accept, that my skin is not made for tanning. I'm pale and I like it. Tan makes you look old. Did you know that 80% of skin aging is caused by the sun? Fake tan doesn't smell good. I just use a little bit sometimes for my legs, but I apply it with airbrush so the result is very natural and has no stains.
9. What is your dream job?
I've already had a lot of "dream jobs". They were/are all great. Marketing job in a make-up company maybe?
10. What shampoo/conditioner do you use?
At the moment I'm obsessed with Lush products. No silicone! And that makes a huge difference. I really explored my hair new.
11. Tea or coffee?
Coffee for waking up. Tea for calming down.

LOTD - Waves

What to say besides T.G.I.F.? I'm totally wiped out from another rather uneventful week dreaming of the Indian Ocean, waves and some surfing sessions. Maybe next year...

Inspired by great waves and lovely pics of the blue sea I did this look today. It's more neon than natural but the pigmentation of the eye shadows is amazing.

LOTD - inspired by Celine

Who said pink is for Barbie's only?

If you mix it with wine red or brown it can be elegant. Have a look at Celine's combination from A/W 2012. Baby pink trousers with a wine red leather jacket is a great mix, don't you think?

Ombre Nails with Sheer Nail Polish by American Apparel

American Apparel brought out a new limited edition just for summer: Sheer Nail Polish

Because of the sheer color you can receive an ombre look on your nails.

Unfortunately it's already sold out on the European site but you might have luck in one of their shops. Price is EUR 6.-

I really like the green-blue combination and the red-purple one. (Although there is no purple nail polish, so it might be Moonlight Beach mixed with Manhattan Beach, red + blue = purple)

What's your favorite?

Manhattan Beach

Zuma Beach

Redondo Beach

Today I wanted to use Lime Crimes powerful colors, so I did this neon purple-lilac look today.

used products:
Lime Crime Palette d'Antoinette
Lime Crime Eyeliner Orchidaceus
Make-up Store Microshadow Scale
Armani Eyes to Kill Excess

I really like the Lime Crime Palette d'Antoinette. Although the colors are so bright and really good pigmented you can receive a pale and discreet look, too.

Cheers!
